I have read everyones comments and mostly agree what everyone is saying. I have a few points to make. First of all, you are guilty until you prove yourself innocent. Unless you have alot of money to throw away on bond, you will sit in there until you loose everything. I have pled guilty on charges just to get out and now these charges are biting me in the ass. Your chance of beating a charge or getting charges lowered (to where they should have been to start with) while your wearing ORANGE is next to impossible. I had to felony trumped up charges that they were trying to give me 2 years TDC until I bonded out after 86 days. Only then they were willing to lower my charges to misdemeanors and gave me time served. When you go to court wearing a suit they treat you like a human. In orange, you don't have a chance. They are going to stick it to you. Oh, and never take the first offer. Everything is negotiable. Its like buying a car or house, you dont pay asking price! They come at you with an offer and you counter offer (alot of times, more than once). For those of you that have loved ones in there, they need money on their books for commissary. The jail gives you (most of the time) a small bar of soap, a tiny almost useless tooth brush and some crapping tiny toothpaste when you get booked in but thats IT! You don't want to ask others for anything. But a person needs to be able to wash there hair, brush their teeth and definitelt deoderant. Other inmates don't want to give you anything (its not there job to take care of you) but they will throw you in the shower if they think you even might smell. Even if its only $20 a week, its a life saver in there. Don't leave your loved one cold, hungry and smelly. Let them keep what little pride they have left.
