Nothing is allowed in from the outside. Anything needed can be purchased from commissary inside the jail if inmate has money available on their commissary fund. A Bible can be requested from the chaplain (or other religious material) but no other books.

You have to be able to accept collect calls at that number, if it is a land line, you want to check with your phone company to make sure collect calls can be accepted, then he can call you. There is a pay phone in his cell. If it is a cell phone or cannot accept collect calls, you need to contact Securus. They run the phone contract out of Harris county, if you pre-pay money to them and list your phone number, he can call that number and the cost for the call will be taken from your pre-paid money with Securus. They were formerly known as Correctional Billing Services, but you should find them listed under Securus on the internet.

How does the prison treat transgendered women. Is this made public to the inmates? Are they sepperated? Are they treated typically as any other woman. I also ask the same regarding intersex women with xy chromosomes not xx. Are the gurlards notified about their difference to more typical women

For the homosexual men, they will keep them in a close watch situation and separate them from the others during visitation. When taken to court, they keep the homosexual/transgender men in a separate cell from the other inmates in court that day. Not sure if the woman are dealt with the same as men, but would imagine so.

Go to Govpaynow.com and enter code 5500. Then fill out the inmate's name and the facility code (for Harris County jail, it is HSO) and the resident booking number (which is their SPN #). You can put money on their books using a bank card.

That would have to go in inmates personal property and someone can pick that stuff up once a pick up authorization has been received from the inmate via mail. Can't take it with them.

No, they have to wear jail orange, right down to the boxers and socks. They can keep the shoes they came in with though. If you are talking about clothes for court, yes you can take a suit for them to wear to the courthouse the morning of their trial, but clear it with their attorney first.

They release right after midnight so you can be counted for the day, but may be different for women because they don't like to release them to the street at night (safety issue). Keep to yourself, don't share why you are there or when you get out with anyone. You will be issued orange clothes, same as everyone, you can keep your shoes and will be issued shower shoes to wear in the shower.
